Dubuque County Education Outreach Mission:
The Dubuque County Education Outreach program strives to inform consumers of all ages about the impact and importance of agriculture in their everyday lives through community outreach efforts.

2024-2025 Goals:
  1. Continue to empower area educators to incorporate agricultural literacy into their classrooms. This will be done through continued classroom visits, special programs, and sharing of educational resources.
  2. Build strong relationships with area businesses and commodity groups.
  3. Continue to find funding sources that will help us carry out our mission of agricultural literacy for everyone.

Meet Our Team

Rachel Ambrosy, Dubuque County Farm Bureau Education Outreach Coordinator

Picture
Rachel Ambrosy joined Dubuque County Farm Bureau June 2019 as a full-time Education Outreach Coordinator. Prior to joining Dubuque County, she served as Outreach Coordinator for Howard County Farm Bureau and Agriculture in the Classroom Coordinator for Winneshiek County Farm Bureau.

Rachel graduated in 2011 from Iowa State University with a degree in Agriculture and Life Sciences- Teacher Education. She taught middle and high school agriculture and biology for several years before transitioning to her role as an Outreach Coordinator.

Rachel and her husband Jason live outside of Sherrill with their five children: Ellie (11), Addison (9), Cole (4), Blair (2) and Darcey (1). They have dairy cattle, a small cow/calf beef herd, and an unicorn goat named Lucky. Jason also has a custom farming operation. Rachel enjoys reading, spending time on the farm, and working with the beef cattle.

Christine Gent, Agriculture in the Classroom Instructor

Chris joined the team in August of 2023 as a contracted instructor to help while Rachel was on maternity leave and we were fortunate to keep her through the rest of the school year and have her on board for the 2024-2025 school year. We love her enthusiasm and joy of teaching agriculture to our local students.

Chris worked as a school nurse for the Midland Community School District before retiring. After retirement she was the Jones County Agriculture in the Classroom Instructor and still substitute teaches in the Midland schools.

Chris and her husband Skott reside on a farm outside of Monmouth where they have a row crop, beef herd, and hay operation. They have two grown children. Chris and Skott have entered the world of bee keeping in the past couple years and it has quickly grown into a passion for Chris.
